STONE SKIMMING
Dougie Isaacs from Blairgowrie was taught the art of Stone Skimming or Stone Skipping by his Grandfather when he was five.
In May 2018 Dougie beat the Guinness World record for Stone Skimming for the eighth time with a 400 feet effort, smashing his own previous record of 351 feet.
In November 2020 Dougie appeared in the BBC Scotland programme "My Kind of Town", a series in which Ian Hamilton and his guide dog, Major, visit towns across Scotland.

HUSKY SLED DOG MUSHING
John and Mary Carter of JCBowland Trails, Netheraird of Glasclune, Blairgowrie, PH10 6SF, run a sled dog training centre.
Their team of championship winning Satanta Siberian Huskies offer visitors exhilarating husky rides.
Mary and her team of huskies also appeared on the programme "My Kind of town".
They also took part in "Scott and Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure: The Discovery".

ARDBLAIR STONES CHALLENGE
Stone lifting features at many International Highland Games Federation (IHGF) events.
The Ardblair Stones Challenge has been on the Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games programme since 2013, involving nine reinforced concrete spheres ranging in weight from 18kg (40lb)
to 152kg(335lb). Starting with the lightest each stone is lifted and placed on top of a whisky barrel which is 132cm (52 inches)high. Competitors are judged on the number of stones completed as well as the time taken.
The Ardblair Stones Challenge now features at Highland Games around Scotland.

HAGGIS HURLING
The World Haggis Hurling Championship is an annual competition which features in the Guinness Book of Records.
On Sunday 6 September 1987 the World Haggis Hurling Finals were held in Blairgowrie during the Blairgowrie Highland Games.
Haggis Hurling must follow strict rules. For example, the haggis must be cooked and of a specific weight, and when it lands it must be intact.
